“ Life’s Daily Inspiration” In My Bird Sweetpea!
This ”Life’s Daily Inspiration“ is about one of my best buddies, we’re roommates and best buddies. This article is about my parrot. Yep, a parrot is my best buddy.
You would be amazed at all they are capable of doing. And saying! Mine is a regular magpie at times. She can say about 50 things.
And laughs just like me. She is forever making me laugh at her antics.
As well as making me want to kill when she does not get her way and is really naughty. Like pitching a temper tantrum. Yeah, you know what I mean. You’ve had those same feeling. Lol
When she’s good she’s very good, and when she’s bad she’s horrid! I know you are wondering about how a Bird can be a “Life’s Daily Inspiration.” Well, we are about to find out just how Sweetpea encourages and inspires me daily.
When I wake up and step into the kitchen she makes this cute little squeaky noise 2 or 3 times.
This is meant to get me to say “Good morning” just for the sake of knowing she and I are the only two here. So I answer her squeaks good morning Sweetpea and she mumbles back “good morning Sweetpea.”
This little game continues while I make my coffee. Then the little ham starts giving me little kisses on my cheek.
If I ignore her she will continually give me kisses until she gets one back.
A little spoiled you say. Lol absolutely. And with a mind of her own. Usually, I make my coffee with Sweetpea’s help of course.
I either fix a bagel or a sausage and biscuit for breakfast. Oh, yes and with yellow mustard on my biscuit.
Which I love but, Sweetpea not so much. So because of my little-spoiled bird’s preferences, I can only put mustard on one half of the biscuit. No, I’m not kidding. If my “prissy Sweetpea” gets mustard on her bite she slings it all over me and the kitchen.
Hence my spoiled bird has me trained very well Lol.
Then I sit and read the news online and pet little Sweetpea. This is her favorite pastime. I usually during this time talk to her.
She is very loving and snuggles up next to my neck.
Yes it is cute. But, there’s a method to her madness cuddling is one of the other ways she manipulates.
When you quit petting. She reaches up an tweaks your ear just enough to remind you she is there. She then runs down your shoulder looks you in the eye and says “You’re so cute” ,how could I be mad ?
How would you like to be on the phone, not just a chit chat kinda call but a very important call and Sweetpea is on your shoulder and decides you are not giving her the attention she needs and deserves? (yeah right).
So I am trying to quiet her. I try to pick her up. But she decides not today, you have ignored me royally and your gonna pay. She is correct I am gonna pay. So she starts barking like a dog. I don’t have a dog. So the person on the business call says do you need to go see about your dog. Uh-huh! (I think what dog?) It’s just a spoiled bird. Which I’m thinking of strangling by now.
I go into the bedroom ,shut the door, head to the bathroom, shut another door and finally finish my call.
I go back to the living room where Sweetpea is perched on her stand. She very conveniently as soon as I enter the room starts saying “good morning.”Why?
Because she is smart and knows 2 minutes ago I would have sold her for 2 cents. ( yeah she’s definitely spoiled).
I go over and sit down in my recliner .Guess who has learned how to climb down and jump over on me.? Yep the cute little (Pest) with a capital (P). Oh, so your think poor baby! (Not).
She is cute and she is loving and cunning, sly, and demanding.
I’m going to show you Miss Sweetpea being cunning and sly.I go over to fix me a cup of red tea .A favorite of mine and Sweetpeas. I microwave for 3 minutes because I like it very hot.
On the way back to the living room we start the game Sweetpea do you want an apple ?to which I get “ squawk, squawk, ” or do you want a pecan? Again squaw, squawk, squawk, now she is pulling on my ear.
So I say, Sweetpea, you pick which one you want. I put pieces of sliced apple, 2 pecans and 2 grapes.
I place them on the counter and down my arm comes my prissy spoiled bird. I say, now Sweetpea pick one. She runs to the sliced apple. Ok, we’re good so I go to pick up the other fruit and she runs cover flapping her wing all the way. I stop and she grabs up a grape and heads back to her apple, so I start to pick the pecans and here comes the little terror Lol. She runs over again batting those little wings to run me off.
So now you know how my best little buddy is also a spoiled teenage being fifteen years old.
Which as a Parrot puts her in her teen years. So I ask you all to pray for me because teenage years are terrible to deal with, Lol.
All jokes aside Sun Conure Parrots such as Sweetpea make great pets.
But a word to the wise be advised they are demanding, and they do not do well on their own.So if you do choose to get one ,really think about it.
Do your homework .You will want a young bird so you can train them. Older birds are much harder.
Did you know they are even trainable to be around cats? I had two when I first got Sweetpea. They both lived very long lives. Sadly they are no longer with us. To answer the question at the beginning of this article anything that leaves you with a memory good or bad has the potential to be a “life daily inspiration.”
