“Life’s Daily Inspiration” In A Banged Up Fender.

“Life’s Daily Inspiration” In A Banged Up Fender

Today when I woke up I was encouraged to make my morning different somehow. So I had a “life’s daily inspiration” to go an outing.

Morning coffee time found me at Waffle House. You know it’s sad when said, outing is coffee at Waffle House. Lol

After being home for days on end with my mom who has Alzheimer’s I needed a break.

Not from Mom , whom I count it a privilege to be able to care for her in my home and to still have her here at 93 in any condition. No it’s from the “sameness” of my days. Those kind of days are not generally a “life’s daily inspiration.”

So on my morning journey to the awful Waffle House

as it’s affectionately known. I encountered a little elderly lady trying to park her car in a handicap space and to back it in to boot.

Not such a big deal you say, normally it wouldn’t be. I sat in the car waiting patiently for her to try to maneuver that big boat of a car in the space. On one of her attempts she hit the newspaper box with her fender.

She got out to check the damage. I took the opportunity to zip in a vacant space with  cars on each side of me thankfully.

For some reason I felt motivated to help this lady.

I went over to the lady just conversationally speaking to inquire after she and her car.

She asked me to do her a favor and back her car in for her .

She couldn’t seem to get in that “little bitty space.”And for heaven sakes why didn’t they make them bigger? She  was handicapped you know.

I very politely said, “yes ma’am I’ll be glad to park it for you.”

Now I just love elderly  people, they are us in a few years so always be helpful and respectful to them. They will encourage and inspire us if we let them.

It cost nothing but time to be nice.

We went inside together after  our introduction and decided to sit together.

Mrs. Whitley and I got along famously we enjoyed our chat  were I learned that she was caring for her husband.

She herself  was 90 yrs young and  she hadn’t driven in over 10 years before today. Now that was a little scary.

Her husband Herbert, usually drove, due to not liking the way she drove. He was scared of her driving. Lol

She told me her husband had heart trouble and was now  in hospice. What a  small world.

Sometimes I’m amazed at how the Lord orchestrates our lives according to his. What were the odds we would both decide we needed a break from the routines we were in? For both of us to decide on the same restaurant at the same time.

I pray daily Lord, please make me a blessing to someone today and encourage the discouraged as well as  let me inspire someone else along life’s journey.

Walking  the walk,  not just talking the talk. Please put feet on my prayers to be an example.

Back to my story, Mrs. Whitley’s son normally took her wherever she needed and wanted to go. Unfortunately he was on vacation .

So she decided when the sitter could come this morning she was going out to treat herself for a change.

I was so inspired by Mrs .Whitley’s spunk

While  she hadn’t driven in years she was determined to do it.

Truthfully,  I would have second the vote from her husband, she was a terrible driver. And that big boat of a car, the old Caddy needed to be traded in for a smaller compact car.

Although it might be another 10 years before she drives again. We should all pray Lord, please make it so for everyone’s safety including the cars. Lol

I left there feeling as if my batteries were fully charged.

The two of us sat there over an hour exchanging stories from our care giving of our loved ones .

Life’s Daily Inspiration-
Morning Coffee

I left there feeling as if my batteries were fully charged .

Ready to meet today’s challenges, whether it was imaginary kitty cats in the house according to Mom , or kids running around the house like Indians on the loose.

A regular occurrence in Mom’s  mind. Just  as real to her, as Mrs.Whitley’s was this morning to me.

I enjoyed Mrs.Whitley’s company and applaud her efforts. Thanks for the memories Mrs.Whitley , every  time I see a big old Cadillac I’m gonna think of you and look for the dent in the fender to see if it’s you and  move out of range I hope. Lol.

The Lord uses, the foolish things to confound the wise.

The Lord made no mistake that morning .We both were there at the same time, virtually for the same reason. A respite from care giving.

“He maketh no mistake”

by A. M. Overton

My Father’s way may twist and turn,

My heart may throb and ache,

But in my soul I’m glad I know,

He maketh no mistake.

My cherished plans may go astray,

My hopes may fade away,

But still I’ll trust my Lord to lead

For He doth know the way.

Though night be dark and it may seem

That day will never break;

I’ll pin my faith, my all in Him,

He maketh no mistake.

There’s so much now I cannot see,

My eyesight’s far too dim;

But come what may, I’ll simply trust

And leave it all to Him.

For by and by the mist will lift

And plain it all He’ll make,

Through all the way, though dark to me,

He made not one mistake.

“Life’s Daily Inspiration” Captain Of Your Own Ship!

“Life’s Daily Inspiration”-Captain Your On Ship!

“Life’s Daily Inspiration”Captain Of Your Own Ship!

Let me share this beautiful historical quote

A  True “Life’s Daily Inspiration” for all.

“We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.”

  Ralph Waldo Emerson

Everyone of us is guided by our own choices, which in turn means we are all an original master piece created by our heavenly  father and given the gift of choice, to choose our paths in life.

Every path we go down through our life heads through new territory yet uncharted. Where you go is sometimes a product of what we each go through in life on our journey, which can be a positive growing experience or a negative  growing experience.

This simple “inspirational quote” says volumes.

“Storms make oaks take roots.”

And likewise those that don’t bury up by digging in because of force of the storm, get washed away and are good for nothing because they never get the chance to grow.  Some storms are too much for the little seeds to take root and grab a hold so they die off.

People do the same in a round about way.

That analogy could be said of any of us. A loved one dies and we are crushed with grief which is a totally normal response. Unless your some kind of a monster of a person. No one is ever ready and willing to say good bye.

I had a hospice patient who had very little time left.

She lived with her son. The  last three days of her life , I was there to care for her.  For her son this was not one of “Life’s Daily Inspirations”.

Her son took off from work to be near her. Even slept in the room with her on the floor close  to the bed, with just enough room for me to navigate around his Mom’s hospital bed as I needed  to do to care for her throughout the night. Attending her needs.

Her son , didn’t just talk the talk, he walked the walk.

Around 3am I woke her son, as I was sure she didn’t have much time left in her earthly body. I encouraged him to get up.

Minutes later the Lord, called her home to no more pain, no more sorrows those things were all just gone from that room.

Unfortunately so was , this Sons . His Mom whom he dearly loved. He literally started screaming “No, No Mamma don’t go…come back, Momma. Don’t leave me, don’t leave me..”

His pain was so evident and difficult to watch .

His grief was so encompassing . He did this for around 30 minutes .He sobbed on my shoulder uncontrollably one minute and then would be wailing buckets of tears the next. Totally devastated, oh ,he knew she was dying and had cancer and was in pain. And that her pain now was gone.

In his head he knew all that, In his heart was only the loss he felt. There is no wrong or right way to grieve. It’s a journey we must all make sooner or later.

Unfortunately this is something I’ve witnessed many, many times. We all grieve differently.

Your writing on the pages of your life ,every experience  you have gone through good times and bad times.

I had another lady who was dying and her family were scattered all over the house asleep. One on the couch in the living room. One on the floor in the living room. One in a recliner. Another in a different bedroom.

And again in the wee hours before daylight I woke up the daughter that was closest ,who in turn woke the others and the great grandson about 7 or 8 years old who was on the floor.

All came and gathered around their mom,

They held hands and one by one , they told her they loved her , with tears streaming down everyone of their faces. Their  Mom went very peacefully. And each in turn never said a word and just by unspoken agreement went and kissed their Mom’s  cheek and went out of the room to have a moment of grief alone.

Both of these two dear lady’s ,were equally gone on to glory yes, but each family member handled there grief in there own way.

Traveling down the same path and yet in different directions.

“Those who think there is a Time Limit when Grieving….have never lost a piece of their Heart.”

“Life’s Daily Inspiration”What does It Take To Inspire You?

Watermelon carving
For life’s daily inspiratio

“Life’s Daily inspiration What does It Take To Inspire You?

Daily life is full of many different experiences good times, sad times, good memories and bad memories. At the ripe old age of sixty something, every one knows a women never tells her exact  age . Lol! I’ve figured out somethings that will forever be one of my life’s daily inspirations for me personally.

One of the great side benefits of getting a little age on you besides being able to be blunt about what your thinking, is having time to decide what’s important to your well being. What encourages you and inspireyou on a regular basis and gives you a sense of all is right, in my world at this moment in time.

I was looking through my ipad and found multiple pictures of food carvings I have done for weddings, birthdays and baby showers and even reunions and that is the reason for this article.

Food  carvings

Those carvings are things that no matter how down I am they always give me a shot of pick me up. As much as if the doctor had given me an injection of pick me up serum, if there was such a thing! Food carving is my go to for a guaranteed daily fix of “life’s daily inspirations”.

Watermelon Carvings

The watermelon carving above was for a reunion “A Scarlett Origional” filled with fruit salad made with tropical fruit chunks that consists of papaya, pineapple, pear, peaches and mango to which I added mandarin oranges, pecans granola and yogurt for a delicious treat with a beautiful presentation in the watermelon.

Fruit cake carving

Another piece of my food carving below is this fruit cake, great for diabetics and fruit lovers a like. A real crowd pleaser.

Which is both a dessert and a cool refreshing heathy alternative for all.

Made from grapes, pineapple, chunks and slices, watermelon, cantaloupe, kiwi fruit, strawberries and blueberries.

Who knew playing with fruit could be so much fun, and would encourage me to try out new things?

If they don’t work out no harm done we eat it, and I try  something  else. There are no failures in food carving only practice  sessions ,that is what  I call them, to see what works for me.

Swan carving filled with fruit

Swan carving a life’s daily

One day I was trying to come up with an new form of carving , I hadn’t tried something besides  watermelons, or cantaloupe and not one of fruitcakes .I wanted to create something awesome for my best friends son’s wedding .I was catering for an expected 150 people. And, it had to be huge in my eyes. So I set to work ,brain storming looking around the internet but, there wasn’t anything I could find that spoke to me and said, build me, make me.

Looking for a different kind of carving

Then one afternoon , It hit me I could do a pumpkin carving that said, love is in the air and “Wedding all by itself,” now I had my inspiration.

Cinderella’s coach

What, you say?  A Cinderella coach with the couple inside and the pumpkin I would deck out with beads and jewels be fitting the perfect fairytale in real life pumkin form. Your asking how? Well the end result is below.

This is by far my favorite. I have always been able to picture in my mind the end result which I think of as a gift from the Lord, and I am very grateful for it.
